pumpkin cream pie/birthday cake

It was my best friend Sarah's birthday this past Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving... She told me she wanted pumpkin cream pie as her birthday cake this year. Smart woman.

She even sent me the link of the exact pie she wanted. I was happy to make it for her, she is a wonderful friend.

And she has birthed the most adorable creature you've ever seen.

Her cute little red-headed daughter, Summer, got into the pumpkin cream pie before the rest of us.

I could just bite those little fingers off. (Right, Matt Sharp?)

Look at that face. She is so guilty.

Here are some pictures from the birthday get together:

Sarah and Summer blew out the candles and the pie was devoured.

This pie has a thick graham cracker crust and a creamy pumpkin pudding filling. The recipe doesn't call for whipped cream on top, but I thought it was necessary. I also drizzled honey over the whipped cream and topped with whole thing with crushed graham crackers. Heaven.

This is a Pioneer Woman recipe, and you can see it here: Pumpkin Cream Pie.

It's a winner. I hope you had a great birthday, Sarah!

  1. Adorable. :) The pie looks fabulous. What a wonderful variation on the usual round of pumpkin pies.

  2. Thank you for the link to this recipe --- I love the write up and have printed out the recipe. I look forward to trying this . . . I'm thinking of just doing the cream filling and putting it in ramekins without the graham cracker crust (I'm not a crumb crust kinda' gal).

  6. Ha! I love the tiny hand reaching for the pie and that sneaky little face she's making- adorable! And that pie looks fabulous! I've never actually had cream pie before, but I think trying a pumpkin one would be a good way to start...
